Verdion has been selected by Boeing to develop a new European distribution hub for chemical and specialty materials in Henstedt-Ulzburg, close to Hamburg.
The 19,254 sq m state-of-the-art building will include a 15,352 sq m of warehouse space, with 3,251 sq m of connected offices. Verdion is targeting DGNB Gold on completion of the project, which is expected to be operational by Q2 2022.
Located in one of the country’s top logistics hotspots and major centre for the aviation industry, this is a significant development for the Hamburg region and the strategic investment of €30 million will further strengthen Boeing’s growth strategy in the highly competitive aerospace market.
“This facility combines state-of-the-art storage, distribution and offices, setting the standard for Boeing’s regional distribution centres and making clear its commitment to the sector. It successfully addresses the twin challenges of secure storage for sensitive goods and ready access to the company’s locations across northern Germany from a growing logistics hotspot that offers an alternative to Hamburg’s undersupplied market.” John Clements, Executive Director, Verdion
