Verdion’s financing partner, the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) has received the IPE Real Estate Global Award for Sustainable Strategy 2015.
HOOPP was awarded the prize as the acknowledged sector leader for its sustainability concept in the framework of maintaining and improving its property assets.
Projects carried out jointly by Verdion and HOOP include the first phase of its 1,184,069 sq ft (110,000 sq m) high quality logistics development in Hanover, Germany – let to Arvato – where 7,824 solar panels have been installed on the 452, 099 sq ft (42,000 sq m) roof. These generate around 2.76 million kilowatt hours of electricity, corresponding to the average demand of 800 Hanover households. In addition, as part of the development scheme, 350,000 Euro has been invested in a new landscape park nearby.
Sustainability was also an important factor in the construction of the 366,000 sq ft (34,000 sq m) bespoke logistics and light production facility developed for technology giant Siemens in Chemnitz, Germany. The production facility has been awarded the LEED Silver certificate by the U.S. Green Building Council.
